What is your favorite housekeeping task?
As a director, my favorite task is strategic planning. Whether it’s designing workflows to enhance efficiency or setting new standards to elevate guest experiences, I enjoy focusing on the bigger picture. Seeing how small changes in processes can lead to significant improvements in guest satisfaction is deeply rewarding.

What is your least favorite housekeeping task?
If I had to choose, it would be managing last-minute resource shortages during peak seasons. While it’s challenging, these situations also push me to think on my feet and find creative solutions, which ultimately strengthens the team’s resilience and adaptability.

What is the most rewarding part of housekeeping?
The most rewarding aspect is seeing the transformation of a vision into reality. From conceptualizing innovative service standards to witnessing the team execute them flawlessly, it’s fulfilling to know that our efforts directly contribute to memorable guest experiences.

What essential skills should a housekeeper have according to you?
A strong foundation in leadership, an eye for detail, and the ability to think strategically are essential for anyone aspiring to excel in housekeeping at a managerial level. Additionally, calmness is very important, as housekeeping is often a thankless job. Remaining composed under pressure ensures smooth operations and helps maintain team morale. Empathy and excellent communication skills are also vital for building a motivated and cohesive team.

What is your advice to aspiring housekeepers?
Always look beyond the immediate task at hand and understand how your role fits into the broader guest experience. Take every opportunity to learn, whether it’s from a mentor, a training session, or even a challenging situation. Leadership is about inspiring others, so focus on building relationships and trust with your team. Motivating the staff through team-building activities and simple gestures like a “pat on the back” can go a long way in fostering a positive work environment.

Where do you see yourself in the next five years of your career?

In the next five years, I see myself continuing to contribute to the industry by leading larger teams, driving innovation in hotel operations, and mentoring the next generation of hospitality professionals. My goal is to ensure that housekeeping evolves with changing guest expectations while staying true to its core values. I also aim to implement “Green Housekeeping” initiatives that align with sustainability goals, reducing our environmental impact.

Tell us about your fondest memories during your tenure at Radisson Blu Mumbai.
One of my fondest memories is leading a project to revamp our sustainability initiatives. Collaborating with various departments, we introduced eco-friendly practices that reduced waste and enhanced operational efficiency. The positive feedback from guests and the sense of accomplishment among the team made it a truly memorable experience.
