The pandemic has been tough for all of us more so for the hospitality industry which is probably the worst affected worldwide. But even during these tough times there are some hotels that are being consistent in their services and positive in their attitude which I feel makes all the difference during these testing times. I was fortunate to be invited by one such hotel in Pune. Salil Kopal- Multi-Property Director of Sales & Marketing Marriott Hotels introduced me to General Manager Fairfield by Marriott Pune Kharadi Aniket Kulkarni and I got to experience Marriott’s fantastic initiative called Marriott on Wheels during the lockdown, which was a part of their ongoing Asian food promotion. During those interactions I was sent an email by the hotel’s Director of Sales Vrushali Kummar mentioning that they would be happy to host me. Once restaurants in Maharashtra were given the permission to be operational I decided to visit the hotel. It was impressive to note that the chauffeur who came to pick me up was extremely polite and courteous and I got to experience a great drive from my house to the hotel which lasted for about an hour. On arrival i was welcomed by Aniket Kulkarni and Vrushali Kummar.

The hotel’s Head Chef Lalit Rai created some fantastic meals at Kava the contemporary all-day dining
restaurant with 52 covers and it’s impressive that the hotel is known in the city for it’s delectable food which was obvious by the quality and variety on offer. Whether it was Maharashtrian, Asian or European the Head Chef along with his team very efficiently dished it up for me and created a plethora of dishes to choose from which was a pleasant surprise. The service team matches up to the efficiency levels of the kitchen team and this makes for a pleasant dining experience. The hotel’s Executive Housekeeper was extremely efficient and made sure my room was always clean and well maintained and that I received all my laundry on time.
Fairfield by Marriott Pune Kharadi has a beautiful lawn with a lot of greenery and is perfect to host private birthday parties or weddings. My interactions with Aniket Kulkarni, Vrushali Kummar, Lalit Rai were pleasant and it was a relaxing stay with several precautions in place to avoid getting infected.
The Market which is part of Fairfield’s brand philosophy wasn’t operational due to the restrictions hotels face currently but looked festive and colourful with Diwali gift boxes and hampers. It was really nice to receive one of Marriott’s artisanal mithai boxes from the hotel’s Director of Sales Vrushali Kummar. Classy and elegantly designed packaging in shades of red, orange and gold, the box contained 36 pieces of delectable sweets each full of flavor and with just the right amount of sweetness. Gold foil contours intricately layered the box in addition to a gold foil embossed Diwali with Marriott logo which made for a pretty picture. The pretty box contained six varieties of mithais called Cocotango, Nut Island, The Rosette, Silver Pistachio, Gurh Mewa and the Golden Date.
Fairfield by Marriott Pune Kharadi exceeded all my expectations in terms of service, food, housekeeping, all the departments were extremely efficient and it made for a pleasant and relaxing stay! Hotels that are sensitive to a guest’s requirements and understand their concerns during the pandemic are a delight to visit and stay at during these difficult times.
