Verona, 31 March 2025 – The identity of Crus and their ability to best express the essence of the territory will be the focus of an exclusive masterclass organised by Famiglie Storiche at Vinitaly 2025. The event, titled “Famiglie Storiche Amarone 2015: l’identità dei Cru”, will take place on Tuesday, 8 April, from 11:00 AM to 1:00 PM, at Sala Tulipano, level -1 of Palaexpo (Entrance A1).
An unmissable opportunity for wine enthusiasts and industry professionals, who will get a chance to explore the diverse expressions of Amarone della Valpolicella through its most representative Crus. Each wine presented will reflect the unique connection between terroir, microclimate, and the winemaking philosophy of producers who have passed down Valpolicella’s viticultural traditions for generations.
Leading the tasting will be Ian D’Agata, a globally renowned wine critic and an expert in Italy’s finest wines. Through his insights, participants will gain a deeper understanding of how each winery within the association has, through its Amarone 2015, interpreted not only the vintage but, above all, a specific terroir.
‘Crus are the silent soul of a wine: they tell stories of land, seasons, and the skilled hands that have nurtured them. With this masterclass, we aim to provide a deeper reading, demonstrating how each Amarone 2015 narrates the identity of each winery within the association and the uniqueness of its terroir,’ says Pierangelo Tommasi, President of the Famiglie Storiche Association.
Ian D’Agata adds: ‘With the wines produced by Famiglie Storiche, a potential buyer knows exactly what they are getting: wines with a great history behind them, an undeniable present excellence, and a bright future. Are there other good and even great Amarones out there? Certainly. But belonging to a prestigious name like Famiglie Storiche, which adheres to strict inclusion criteria, offers an added guarantee. After all, this is true for many other renowned Italian brands, from fashion to automotive.’
The masterclass will feature thirteen Amarone wines from the 2015 vintage, carefully selected to represent the best of the denomination. Each wine embodies the identity of its Cru and its winemaker’s production vision. Through this masterclass, Famiglie Storiche reaffirms its commitment to enhancing the territorial identity and authenticity of Amarone, offering a narrative deeply rooted in the culture of wine and the passion of those who, for generations, have interpreted and preserved the Crus of Valpolicella.
