Berlin-based rug label Reuber Henning launches two new designs, Maze and Trace, as part of its 4 minute Rug collection.
Berlin-based rug label Reuber Henning is showcasing the many facets of its expertise in creativity and craftsmanship with its new designs Maze and Trace. While Maze elegantly exudes an aesthetic ease, Trace lies at our feet, rustic and reminiscent of a bygone age. Like all Reuber Henning rugs, they are hand-knotted in Nepal using only the finest materials.
But let’s go back to the beginning, in the truest sense of the word: the design of Trace is reminiscent of prehistoric cave drawings, ancient hieroglyphics written on parchment, and messages from another time. The two different pile heights of the knotting incorporated into the pattern of Trace even allow the rug to be experienced on the haptic level. Its my riad potential interpretations render the rug a woolen conversation piece, while its color palette is incredibly down to earth, with clay, stone, chalk, earth, and wood, as well as the elemental energy of interior designer Axel Vervoordt serving as sources of inspiration. Made from Tibetan wool and Nettle, Reuber Henning’s Trace rug helps ground us and the space around us, creating a haven of tranquility in a fast-paced world.
Where Trace exudes a quiet sense of comfort, a rug from the Maze series imparts a sense of grandeur, its design a labyrinth of emotions and movement, ruggedly beautiful like carbon embedded in ancient rock.
Its color palette of black, white, grey, red, and green evokes the fine crystalline world of marble. This rug lends any room a sense of unbridled elegance, with the fineness of the new design further enhanced by the material’s high silk content of 55 percent. The way the light dances across the fibers of the rug is enough to break both stone and hearts. Maze also incorporates Tibetan wool and is made with 100 knots per square inch and two different pile heights.
Both designs can be custom-made. The classic stock size is 250 cm x 300 cm.
Trace is available in eight colors and Maze is available in nine.
Trace and Maze both form part of Reuber Henning’s renowned 4-minute Rug Collection, which has been one of the label’s signatures for the past decade. The concept underpinning the collection is playfully simple: all designs must be created in four minutes. This approach allows the artists to constantly challenge themselves and sharpen their creative intuition. The resulting designs are four minutes made eternal.
